Direct answer
Modern SEO still rewards useful pages that search systems can trust. Show who wrote and runs the business, keep NAP and services consistent, use schema that matches visible content, earn genuine reviews, and answer buying questions in plain language. There is no Search Console metric called “AI impressions” that replaces this work, and no shortcut that turns empty pages into citations.

What this article will not claim
Reviewed 17 September 2026 by Dsignr Digital, a Rosebank (Gauteng) web design and digital marketing agency founded in 2015 by Sphamandla. We sell websites, ecommerce, branding, SEO, social, email and care plans. These articles describe that work — not an affiliate playbook.
Last updated: September 2026. A previous version of this page listed client results, a free checklist download and a Search Console “AI impressions” metric that this site did not actually provide. Those lines are removed. Trust pages cannot invent proof.
Google’s helpful content guidance and SEO Starter Guide are the public rules. Dsignr Digital applies them through SEO services and the GEO notes in generative engine optimisation.
E-E-A-T on a small South African site
Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness are qualities of the page and the business, not a plugin. On a typical SME site that means:
- a real about page with people, address and a way to contact;
- service pages that describe work you actually sell;
- bylines or an organisation author on articles;
- dates that get updated when facts change;
- privacy and terms that match how forms work;
- case studies only with permission, and no invented percentages.
Rosebank contact details that match Google Business Profile matter more than a stock “our team holds every certification” line.
Structured data that matches the page
Use schema as a machine-readable restatement of what humans already see:
Organization/LocalBusinessfor NAP and area served;Articleplus FAQ blocks on guides that actually contain FAQs;Serviceon service URLs, not on the homepage slogan.
Google’s structured data introduction says markup should match visible content. FAQ schema on a page with no questions is a trust leak, not a ranking hack.
Reviews, links and local proof
Ask for Google reviews after finished work. Reply to them. Do not buy them. Star ratings can appear in results when eligibility is met; they do not replace service pages.
Links still help when they are editorial. “Earn 50+ backlinks” as a promise is not a process. A process is: useful guides, genuine partnerships, and work that other sites have a reason to cite — for example a dated cost guide or a method other people can repeat.
Local SEO details sit in attract more customers with local SEO.
The technical floor
HTTPS, crawlable HTML, a working sitemap, and Core Web Vitals that do not punish mobile users are the floor. See the PageSpeed guide (INP, not FID) and performance metrics.
If you want an audit against this list, request an SEO review from Dsignr Digital. Bring Search Console access; screenshots of a lab score are not enough.
How we apply this at Dsignr Digital
This website is an example of the floor we argue for: organisation byline, Rosebank NAP, dated articles, FAQ blocks that match visible questions, and schema that restates the page. We apply the same pattern on client service sites — for example a clinic such as Dr Sihle Sibiya Paediatrics — without inventing ranking percentages.
Our about page publishes first-party counts (websites deployed, client engagements). Those are our books, not a Google trophy. SEO work starts with Search Console access you can see.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is modern SEO in 2026?
Useful, crawlable pages with consistent business information, matching structured data, genuine reviews, and measurement in Search Console. GEO extends that so AI answers can cite you; it does not replace it.
Does E-E-A-T have a score in Google Search Console?
No. It is a quality framework. You demonstrate it with people, proof, accuracy and a site that works.
Is there an “AI impressions” report I should wait for?
Do not wait for a magic report before doing the fundamentals. Use Search Console performance, indexing, and — where available — Google’s documented AI-related reporting for your account. This article does not invent a metric name.
Should I add FAQ schema to every page?
Only where the page visibly answers those questions. Empty or duplicate FAQs waste crawl attention and can look deceptive.
Do backlinks still matter?
Editorial links still help people and systems find you. Buying links or inventing counts does not. Publish work worth citing.
How do reviews help SEO?
They support local trust and may enable review enhancements when Google’s eligibility rules are met. They do not fix a site with thin service pages.
What should I do this month?
Fix NAP consistency, unique service pages, accurate titles and descriptions, Search Console coverage errors, and one article that answers a real buying question.
Can Dsignr Digital implement this without inventing results?
Yes. We report Search Console and conversion data you can see. We will not publish fake percentage uplifts on this site.
Who writes Dsignr Digital’s articles?
They are written and reviewed by Dsignr Digital in Rosebank, Johannesburg — the same practice that designs, builds and looks after client websites. We date updates, cite primary sources, and do not publish invented client percentages.
